Our breeding stock is health tested for several hereditary
disorders that can afflict Jack Russells to assure prospective
families that they will have a healthy terrier for many years.
As responsible breeders we also strive to lesson the
occurrence of these harmful genes in the next generation of
terriers that we produce. Our philosophy is that "you're either part of the problem or part of the solution." Here is a brief
description of the hereditary disorders that we screen our
terriers for:

As responsible breeders we also strive to lesson the
occurrence of these harmful genes in the next generation of
terriers that we produce. Our philosophy is that "you're either part of the problem or part of the solution." Here is a brief
description of the hereditary disorders that we screen our
terriers for:
PLL (Primary Lens Luxation) - This is a very serious and debilitating disease
that can leave your terrier completely blind. It causes a deterioration of the
fibers that hold the lens inside of the eye in place. PLL can affect a terrier as young as 3 or 4. A simple cheek swab can tell us whether or not a terrier is
carrying this terrible gene. It is our feeling that all terriers should be tested
prior to breeding.
SCA (Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia) - This is a progressive, neurological disease
that ultimately leads to death. It affects puppies, and unfortunately may not be noticed until after the puppy has been adopted. Again, a simple cheek
swab test will reveal if a terrier is carrying this gene.
DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) - This is a disease that typically affects older terriers. It is the progressive loss of neurological control of the hind limbs
especially and greatly affects the quality of life of your elderly terrier and can lead to premature euthanasia. There are several kinds of DM so we screen
for the one that affects Jack Russells that there is a test for.
BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) - This is a painless, one time hearing test using a special machine performed on the puppy before it is adopted or
on any adult at any time prior to breeding. The BAER test tells us if the
terrier has normal hearing in both ears. Jack Russells that can only hear out
of one ear are difficult to detect without this test. If bred they would be
more likely to produce a completely deaf puppy.
CERF (Canine Eye Research Foundation) - This is an annual exam by a
Veterinary Ophthalmologist to screen for eye disorders that may be
hereditary. Juvenile Cataracts (for example) develop over time and have to
be checked for every year. We check all of our terriers prior to breeding each year.

Miss "Whimsy" is a lovely, small, balanced bitch with an engaging, expressive personality. She has a very small, flexible chest and beautiful angles. Always happy, her favorite thing is to squeak all of the toys in the living room as much as possible...and bark at the ponies. :-) She reminds us of her Grandma "Wish" and we are thrilled to continue Great Grandmother "Fang's" line with this lovely young bitch.
(Here's Whim at 7 weeks!)

"Maeve" is the first in a long line (hopefully!) of Irish-named puppies from Jig. She was a beautiful puppy and has matured into a hunty, flexible young bitch. We love her color, her easy coat and her sensible, easy going temperament ..she's just like her mom...only smaller!
Here she is at 6 weeks!

"Briony" is the beautiful daughter of Woofgang Jig and Little Eden Dempsy.. She has the laid back temperament of her parents and is just a lovely, balanced terrier with a perfect coat, beautiful long neck and the perfect head and expression every Jack Russell should have...at least to me! Briony has everything we love about Jig but in a smaller package. Just right!

Briony is such a nice house terrier. Here she is playing with our kitten "Oscar." Not every Jack Russell has a little cat for a friend! |

Little Wiley is all we could hope for from Whimsy and Aspen. He's small, flexible, has a beautiful coat, pretty face and has the nicest personality! We love everything about him and look forward to him contributing to our breeding program going forward.
